Don't Forget *When* You Are

This time of year, it’s easy to get caught up in the end-of-year current. It’s a force that will tell you to reflect on last year and make new goals for the upcoming year. “Now is the time to push yourself and go on a diet and make a big change. January has magical fresh-start energy” it will say.

It’s what we do in January, right?

But let’s not forget the time we’re living in. We’re entering a third year of a pandemic that has made people’s lives significantly harder. We’re burned out working from home and in constant meetings, caring for our children when schools are closed, worried at any moment that we could get the virus.

We’re barely hanging on.

But look.
You’re still here.
You’re reading this.
You’re showing up even a little.
That’s amazing!

Truly, don’t forget that. Maybe this January is not the month, or even the year to go no-sugar or write your novel, or have your best year ever.

Listen to the time and listen to yourself before you get swept up in the “well this is what I do every new year” routine. It’s not like every other year.

You’re working hard to hold it together.
That’s enough.
You’re enough.
