Why Posture Matters For Focus
When you have to be super focused and think critically on a task for work, my one piece of advice would be to consider your body position.
In other words, when you sit up straight, put your feet on the floor, with your back to the back of your chair and breathe deeply and calmly, you’re more likely to be focused. Good posture helps with improved circulation and increases lung capacity, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to your body, increasing your energy.
On the contrary, studies show that every inch that you tilt your head forward (like to look at your phone or lean into your computer) nearly doubles the weight put on your neck. That can cause headaches, neck pain, and general discomfort (which will make you want to stop working and more distractable faster).
Physical strength informs mental strength.
So it’s worth reminding yourself to sit up straight, check on your posture once an hour, and use your body to help your mental strength.
Head back. Shoulders down. Long spine. Feet on the floor.
You got this.
