Change the Pace of Running A Business
The word “coach” is an anaology stemming from 18th century European horse-drawn carriages that would transport goods quickly.
It was used in education before athletics–a tutor to get you to through your exams more comfortably and faster.
Faster gets you there first, but then you’re there and then what? What’s there to do there? More?
Faster skips the journey. Faster can speed through the learning. Faster misses the scenery. Faster is not always better.
We’re running our business to get to the exit and max out our earning.
We’re running a race without ever declaring a real winner.
We’re speeding ahead at a pace that isn’t sustainable.
We should reconsider who we’re keeping up with.
Instead, I’m going to slow things down.
I’m going to notice the scenery.
I’m going to talk to fellow racers.
I’m going to smell the roses.
It’s my time after all.
Stop and enjoy.
It’s time well spent, not well-worked.
So let me spend it slowly.
Peaceful and joyful.
Intentionally calm.
My business?
I don’t run it,
I’ll walk it.
